Australian artist Selina Fenech was born in 1981 and has always had a great passion for creating art. Her daydreams of magical creatures and places were irrepressible, and goddesses, fairies and nature spirits started showing up in her artwork from a very early age. She has always had a great love and appreciation of the magic of nature, and frequently gets lost in mythology and fairytales which all inspire her greatly. While she always loved to draw, she didn't know she wanted to, or could, be an artist for quite some time. When she was sixteen years old she placed a few of her artworks in an online gallery and was amazed when fan mail and print and commission requests started coming in. Always wanting to please, and excited to be sharing her passion for art and magic, Selina began taking commissions and producing fine art prints of her work, and her art career has grown steadily since then, seeing publication in books and magazines worldwide and a range of licensed merchandise.

A more personal side...
Yes, that is me below, running from my distraught brothers ruined painting with the maniacal grin on my face and paint all over my hands!
So, you wanna know who I really am?
I'm a rabid humanist. A hopeless romantic. A scientific thinker. A cynic. A pessimist. A female and feminist. A day dreamer. I'm loaded to the brim with empathy and compassion. I'm an optimist. An amazon. An angel. A compulsive liar. A meat eater. Vegetarians are prejudice, who says plants don't feel? I'm over opinionated. I'm shy. I'm an introvert. I'm an artist. A thinker not a doer. An irrepressible shopper. A magpie. A hunter-gatherer. A butter-fingers. A closet geek. I'm a music lover. A nature lover. A cat lover. A mouse lover. I'm an admirer of anything beautiful. Of words. Of colours. Of putting my foot in my mouth. I have a mole on my neck and a dimple in my chin when I smile. I enjoy procrastinating. Reading. Role playing. Thumb wrestling. Adventuring. I'm an enigma. I'm as shallow as a muddy puddle.
Drawing and creating mean so much to me. I simply enjoy it, I like to make beautiful things and I just can't stop creating, my muse works me hard. Once I have inspiration I'm a slave to it. I get a lot of inspiration from nature, mythology, fairytales and fantasy. This, for me, includes religions of all forms. I'm not religious, but I like all religion the same way as I like mythology and fairytales and fantasy, I believe that's all it is, no more, but most importantly no less, because these things are important to us as humans. It's important to dream.
Often there is no more meaning behind my artwork than to simply create something pretty. Other times there is a great emotional and personal feeling that has caused me to paint something, and others it is simply an image that I dreamt or appeared suddenly in my mind, as inspiration will sometimes do. I am inspired by and influenced by many artists and art movements, from Art Nouveau era, to Renaissance, to Pre-raphaelite and romantics, to comic book art, to anime and manga, to the many wonderful artists in the current modern fairy and fantasy art movement including Amy Brown, James Browne, Alan Lee, Jessica Galbreth, Nene Thomas, Linda Bergvist, and many, many more. Most of my life revolves around creating art, selling my art, or appreciating other peoples art.
I also have a wonderful partner, family, friends, and cat with no-name who receives the remainder of my time and affection.
