An ancient Irish goddess of war, the Morrigan is a powerful figure. Crow feathers in The Morrigan symbolise the Morrigan’s connection with crows, who were thought to herald the outcome of battle, inspiring fear or courage into the hearts of warriors. The spattered red background resembles the blood of war, whilst the three faces and phases of the moon references the triple aspect of the goddess- maiden, mother, and crone. Morrigan is a harsh goddess, and this artwork is too confronting for some, but perfect for someone bold.
